Reading

We will complete the theme Let's Be Friends the week of January 28 .  The next theme will be Playful Pets.  It will focus on the high-frequency words did and it, the consonant sounds of c and k, and the phonogram -it (hit, sit, etc.).  The children will bring home the book The Cake to read to you.  We will also learn more sight words which will come home on cards for their envelopes.

Please continue to review all reading and high-frequency words.  Take the time to look at your child's daily work and review those skills that are difficult for your child.

Math

We are completing a chapter on measurement in which we discussed length, weight, and capacity.  Next chapter is called Time and Money.  We will learn to tell time to the hour only on a digital and an analog clock.  We will learn penny, nickel, and dime--what each looks like and its value.

February themes will be centered around health and good foods, Valentine's Day, and our country, the USA.

Good Touch, Bad Touch will be presented on February 5,6, and 7.

Our Valentine party will be at 2:00 on February 14.
